New Bernina overlocker

My old singer overlocker was acting up so I bought this new Bernina, and its  way better -much faster and it has 2 other feet, for one gathering fabric and the other for inserting elastic.I have'nt tried the feet yet 'cos I 'm too busy.It cost 700 euro so hopefully its worth it,but I think Bernina are one of the best machines ,so I should have no problems. It is made by Juki and has differential feed which I now think is really necessary.UPDATE-I tried the gathering foot on yards and yards of lace I had to put on a dress and it worked great. If you are thinking of buying an overlocker try and get a Juki brand as they are cheaper -I can't buy Juki here. Also for rolled hems all I have to do is push a lever and change the stitch length -on my Singer overlocker I had to change the plate which was a right pain.

What does an overlocker do exactly?!
I have a Beriner sewing/embroidery machine - it's amazing - just a shame I don't make the most of it's talents. Had it nearly a year, and still haven't tried the embroidery! in fact, I've used straight stitch, and zigzag! how bad is that.

Hi Mary - I've never heard of a Juki overlocker. Where do you get them from? Why can't you purchase one? I'm intrigued...
